As I wrote erlier, this year we flew with Kuwait Airways to the Philippines because it was simply the cheapest flight I could book from Germany for only 725,- Euro, 35 Kg free luggage each and valid for 180 days.
I must admit, I was a little scared, after reading the reports about the airline in airlinequality.com. Rude staff, bad food, non working personal monitors of the entertainment system and broken seats, to name a few. All in all you could think that the aircraft would fall apart inflight.
But I was surprised how smooth the flight went through. No delays at all, the staff on ground and in the cabin was frindly, food was good and even the toilets were as clean as in other airlines.
Our flight went from Frankfurt via Kuwait and Bangkok to Manila. The planes (A340) are 14 years old however, and that was of course visible. But I would say that if they replaced the interior with new seats and entertainment system everything was just fine. There were a few monitors not working but only a few and there was one
broken seat reported by a passenger in front of me and they imediately allocated him to another seat. At no time I had a bad feeling during the flight.
As because this flight went to Manila and not to Cebu in the Philippines, I had to book me another connection flight from Manila to Cebu with Cebu Pacific Airline. Early enough I got the flight for 0,- Peso(!) plus tax and Kerosine of course. We ended up with 22,-- Euro each for this flight. Our stopover time in Manila was about three hours and we had to transfer from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3, located well on the other end of the airport in Manila.
But there was a free Shuttle Bus waiting already outside the terminal so we made it in time without any stress in about 20 minutes.
We stayed 2 nights in St Moriz Hotel in Cebu, before finaly taken the boat over to Bohol.
A quick update about Kuwait Airways:
I just read, that they have ordered 12 new Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 7 Airbus A320. The 787 will be delivered from 2010 and the A320 by the first quarter of 2009. So there will be an nice improvement for that airline.
